Success for LDL as it passes Government Connect Audit
Date: 13/01/2010
Liverpool Direct Limited’s ICT Service manages a connection on behalf of Liverpool City Council to the Government Connect Secure Extranet (GCSX). Access to the service is only granted on achievement of the stringent requirements specified in the Government Connect ‘Code of Connection’ (CoCo). This is used for a variety of services and is the only mechanism for the Benefits service to share key information with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP). As a consequence of Liverpool Direct Limited’s diligence, Liverpool was one of the first Local Authorities to achieve the requirements of the CoCo and its submission has been used by Government Connect as an exemplar for other Local Authorities that want to connect to GCSx.
Derek Anders, Head of ICT Operate Design said: “Each year, Government Connect sends in a team of experts to review our CoCo and can immediately cease the service if there is any non-compliance. This year, the CoCo has changed dramatically since its initial iteration and Liverpool Direct Limited has strived to meet the requirements of the significantly enhanced standards.”
Mark Orford, Head of ICT Design Service commented: “We have placed the City of Liverpool at the vanguard of GCSx compliance and Liverpool City Council is one of only six local authorities to be successfully measured against the new enhanced Code of Connection. It has developed its processes and implemented controls that meets the most demanding independent review.”
