Revenues Service is announced as a finalist at the IRRV Awards

Liverpool Direct Limited’s Revenues Service for the first time ever has been short listed by the prestigious Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation (IRRV) under the category of ‘Revenues Team of the Year’ for its highly successful and innovative work.

The meeting of the IRRV Awards Panel was held on the eve of the Collection & Enforcement Conference in Harrogate during May. The IRRV reported an increased number of entries this year with record numbers in some categories.

Liverpool Direct Limited’s submission was considered in detail and then compared to the other entries in the same category. Decisions were taken solely on the submission itself and the only external reference was to National and Local Performance Indicators.  From this a short list was complied, from which Liverpool Direct Limited appeared.  The next stage of the judging is an inspection visit from the IRRV expected before August.

David McElhinney, Chief Executive said:  “Congratulations to the Revenues Service on being short-listed for ‘Revenues Team of the Year. It is a considerable achievement to reach this stage of the rigorous judging process; and we can rightly be very proud of this success.”

The Revenues Service has had some great highlights during the 2009/10 financial year such as overall receipts up by 6.74% to £345m and the collection of Council Tax and Business Rates improving with collection of sundry debts up by 32% to £36m.  This is a fantastic effort whilst weathering a tough economic climate.
